This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Senior Director of Finance and Business Planning at the Jackson YMCA fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. They also ensure a system of strong internal controls and fiscal soundness, and provide direction and leadership for all Jackson YMCA finance and business operations.

Qualifications
  • BA or BS in Finance / Accounting preferred or
  • 10 Years progressive accounting and finance experience or
  • A combination of education and experience
  • Accounting experience in a non-profit organization preferred
  • Advanced financial modeling skills
  • Strong administrative, organizational, math, and computer skills with attention to detail required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Daxko software experience a plus
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required within 60 days.
Essential Functions

1. Preparation, distribution, and the ability to communicate financial information to the management team and board of directors.

2. Timely and accurate monthly reporting for management and the board of directors, act as the staff liaison to the finance committee, and support the treasurer as needed.

3. Maintain all financial statements and prepare annual reports.

4. Develop and implement accounting policies and internal controls to GAAP standards. Build systems to ensure all necessary AP / AR / Payroll / Journal entries / Petty Cash functions are accurate and effective each month.

5. Develop and manage the budget, monthly journal entries, financial statements, bank reconciliations, and GL account reconciliations in a timely manner.

6. Perform all accounts payable (AP) and receivable (AR) duties in an accurate and timely manner.

7. Oversee and analyze business contracts, service agreements, and community service agreements to ensure they are current, compliant, and support the Mission of the Y.

8. Files monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as required.

9. Supports and oversees all business office functions including contract management.

10. Provides grant oversight for all programming and development.

11. In collaboration with Member Services reviews daily deposits, daily cash reconciliation, and oversees collections and returned charges / checks / bank drafts for charitable giving.

12. Generates the monthly collections report, which is submitted to the CEO and department heads for review and follow-up on outstanding balances.

13. Assists with either the morning or evening MOD role to ensure smooth business operations for the Y

14. Ensure compliance with all state and federal guidelines to support financial and business operations.

15. Processes payroll, compensation and benefit programs, including and classification, salary structure and salary adjustments. Oversees benefit plan communication, enrollment, and administration.

16. Maintains the payroll system, which includes adding and terminating employees and maintaining employees' records with the payroll system.

17. Remains current with employment laws and regulations. Maintains an effective program of compliance with laws and regulations related to human resources and manages relationships with compliance agencies and YMCA legal counsel.

18. Ensures timely and accurate submission of data requested by the EEOC, YMCA of the USA, Department of Labor, etc.

19. Development and oversight of fixed asset logs

20. Support and participation in YMCA events and fundraisers as assigned

21. Participates in Director on Duty Rotation and maintains certifications in CPR and First Aid

22. Performs all other duties as assigned.
